Good news for all the Sanjay Dutt fans! The actor’s five year prison term is nearing it’s end. According to prison authorities, reserving the case of some unforeseen contingency, he is likely to be released by the 7th of march, 2016.
The actor was tried under TADA on terror charges, and was said to be involved in the 1993 serial blasts case. But he was only found guilty of possession of illegal weapons and was detained for the same . These arms, he claimed, were acquired for his family’s protection during communal tumult that spread in Mumbai following the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992.
Currently he is lodged in Yerawada Jail, Pune, and is scheduled for an early release on account of his decent conduct.
Dutt has been a target of a lot of criticism for receiving VIP treatment while serving his time, as he has had the luxury of getting multiple prison holidays. The actor has been out twice on parole (2015 and 2013), and twice on furlough (2013 and 2014) citing multiple health issues for either himself, or his family. And now his four month early release is also raising several eyebrows.

Immediately after his release, the actor is likely to go right back to work for completion of his pending projects. This would mean a fast paced movement for projects like Raju Hirani’s Munnabhai movie (third in the series) and several others that had to be put on hold due to Sanjay Dutt being sentenced.
Dutt’s biopic, on the story of which Hirani is currently working, is also on the actor’s schedule, once he is released. He is also the to co-producer of this movie along with Hirani.
