It is very important to note that most of the people getting 1 crore + salaries are for international offices in western countries and these figures are common there. Basically in USA, $100k plus other benefits is the standard salary which is offered to any entry level software engineer in a top-tier IT firm. But considering the cost of living in most of these countries, the actual basic pay, working hours and all the effort in getting a job offer in such big companies, the package is not as big as it looks in numbers. Usually the 1 crore + salaries being offered are in the U.S. dollars which we convert into Indian rupees and is the sum of joining bonuses (a one-time payment), base salary, some form of equity which is promised to be given over a period of 4-5 years, starting from an year of joining and only if the person stays with the company for this period, and performance-linked bonuses.
Though it is true that salaries in the US will let these people enjoy a higher standard of living than in India despite of considering the higher cost of living in the US and the USD-INR conversion rate, but the difference is not as large as the salary numbers convey.
